Tennessee: Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen Vote to Uphold the Second Amendment
Last night, the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen met to discuss a variety of new ordinances.   Among these ordinances was one that would make it illegal for persons to carry a firearm in a city park, or any building or facility operated by the city for park or recreational purposes.

Keene: Americans approve of guns more than ever
The greatest accomplishment of supporters of the Second Amendment is the belief that “guns are cool,” National Rifle Association President David Keene tells Newsmax.TV.

Cox: A historic opportunity for La. voters to protect their gun rights
With just one vote on November 6th, you can build an iron wall around your Second Amendment freedoms and protect them from anti gun, activist judges. That’s because on your ballot this year is an amendment to Louisiana’s state constitution that would provide the most rock solid state level legal protection for the right to keep and bear arms in the nation. The language of the amendment reads:

Anti-Gun UC-Davis Study of Retailers Funded by Joyce Foundation Underwhelms
There is a reason the Joyce Foundation funded Dr. Wintemute’s research and the Violence Policy Center helped with the questionnaire, and it wasn’t because they’re all interested in “the unique perspective of firearms licensees on important social issues and the firearms business itself.” While, this survey and journal article has not generated much attention thus far, one daily newspaper reporter decided to go into the field to get the reaction of firearms retailers. It seems they also don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

King, Vilsack clash on gun control in Sioux City debate
Asked about balancing public safety with the Second Amendment right to gun ownership, Vilsack said there needs to be a national discussion on whether people should own assault rifles and have mail-order access to ammunition. King said the AR15 assault rifle is the most popular coyote hunting weapon in America, and he and members of his family own them. “You are not going to take my AR away from me,” he said.

ATTENTION New Mexico Concealed Handgun Licensees: Update on Important Rule Change Allowing Concealed Carry in State Parks
Yesterday, the State Parks Division of the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department held a public hearing to accept input on proposed amendments to Section 19.5.2.21 of the New Mexico Administrative Code, which includes a removal of the current ban on concealed handgun licensees carrying handguns in state parks.  A representative from the NRA-ILA testified in support of this rule change, along with several concealed handgun instructors from across the state.  No one spoke in opposition to this proposal.  The Department will continue to accept written comments on the measure until 5:00pm on October 31.  Please send comments by email to april.alvarado@state.nm.us  or by USPS to April Alvarado, EMNRD State Parks Division, 1220 South St. Francis Drive; Santa Fe, NM 87505.

NRA sharpens political attack on Obama
The NRA, which endorsed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney earlier this month, has been very vocal about trying to defeat Obama in November.”Some gun owners took Obama at his word four years ago, when he said he wouldn’t take their guns away,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director, NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “So, after years of paying lip service to the Second Amendment, President Obama finally let it slip last night that he supports the most draconian form of gun control    a gun ban.”

The smearing of Fast and Furious whistleblower John Dodson
On December 15, 2010, ATF Special Agent John Dodson’s life changed forever when Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed in the Arizona desert. At least two of the guns left at the scene were linked to Operation Fast and Furious. Before Terry was killed, hundreds had been killed in Mexico as a result of the program, leaving only blood stained concrete and horror behind. For a year prior to Terry’s murder, Dodson worked as part of ATF Phoenix Gunrunning Group VII, the group assigned to carry out the bulk of Fast and Furious. He was told for months to allow thousands of AK 47 style guns to walk into Mexico. He was instructed to watch straw purchasers illegally buy weapons, but not to arrest them. Dodson asked his superiors on multiple occasions if they were prepared to deal with the consequences of their actions and the tactics used throughout the operation.
