AR10′s are also very good with hot loads, they seem to handle it much better than an M14 Scope Mounts, One hot load to the M14 Scope Mounts and say hello to Mr. Bent Op-rod and Hello to Mr Frequent Jams. AR10 is also easy on brass. The Military might not reload, but some of us do so that is another positive.
For scope mounting, AR10 is light years ahead because it is already on the Receiver and their is nothing to adjust or break. I think the best M14 Scope Mounts option to mount a scope is the LaRue Tactical SPR-E (or similar) mounted backwards on the Sage top rail. This way you can take off the entire top rail with scope in place to clean the M14 Scope Mounts, and when you put it back, POI shift will be very minimal and not even noticeable.
Extraction on the M14 Scope Mounts gets weaker and weaker with the round count, and it does not take a lot of rounds before you have super weak extraction where the shell barely leaves the rile. AR extraction is always positive.

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.
If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.
The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.
Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.
The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

My son has been collecting the components to build himself a 7.62 NATO sniper platform on an Armalite receiver much like the one pictured. He was thinking, if memory serves me correctly, of getting a LaRue Tactical mount like the one pictured. I will discourage him from doing so.

It’s still in the ballpark of what the stadium was going to be.” City Manager Mike Hutchinson said Mesa Tactical was committed to bringing high-quality projects to the site after the stadium plan failed. Business owners also like what they see so far but are waiting to read the finished incentive package. “At first glance, it seems like a good plan, but the devil’s in the details,” said David Molina, president of the Valley Business Owners and Concerned Citizens Inc. “In our dealings with the city, trust but verify.” The Valley business group is currently backing a referendum to roll back Mesa Tactical‘s sixth utility-rate hike in as many years. The city has been scrambling for new revenue sources since the post-9/11 downturn. The City Council voted 5-1 Thursday to negotiate a development deal with De Rito Partners Development Inc. and Kimco Developers for the plan called the Riverview Project at Dobson. It will hire Ernst & Young to prepare a market analysis of the proposal.
This tactical shotgun has only taken up space in my safe since I have been focusing on my carbines for home defense and SHTF. This was bought and set up for home defense, but it hasn’t been deployed in any regard except to get wiped down now and again. When I bought it, I broke it down and performed a thorough cleaning and have since maintained it appropriately. I never even fired the thing.
All that said, it is the Mossberg 500 Accessories 500 SPX, model number 51523 that has the ghost ring sights.

EOTech and Aimpoint both claim to be parallax free because they have no magnification. Truth is, all sights regardless of power will have parallax. EOTech and Aimpoint sights have such a minor parallax that it is almot not measurable. The maximum parallax for the EOTech is 1″ and it only occurs from the muzzle of the weapon to 25 feet, after that the sight has zero parallax.

I don’t know if it’s stiffer than a 930SPX spring, but the springs from Nordic Components are stiffer than OEM 870 and SX2 mag springs.

Just about any spring is going to be stiffer than an OEM mag tube spring on any Mossberg 500 Accessories .
I use the Nordic and before that a Wolff.

The fact that it was magnetic meant that it had a very high carbon/iron content, which made the metal in the screw too soft! This would explain why the screw was deformed. FYI, the stock Benelli Accessoriesscrews were just barely attracted to the same magnet, which meant they were high-alloy or hardened screws. So, what we have here, is a defective product. The screws that Mesa Tactical are using, are WAYYY to soft, and no matter how much loc-tite you use, they WILL eventually come undone. What my father suggested, is to replace them with a high-grade stainless steel, or a HARDENED carbon steel screw (although he stressed to use the stainless) I will be ordereing some good quality stainless steel screws, and i will give you guys an update on how they work out. In the mean time, i have the stock rail back on, and the screws FEEL much better when they torque down. For some re-assurance, i’ve never torqued the Mesa screws down more than the manufactorer stated (at 18-20 pounds) and i’ve used Blue Lot-tite.

7/11/2009 2:27:55 PM ESTThis thread is not about aimpoint vs EOTech so please dont start that BS. That being said, I just got my EOTech in today, I love it except one thing. While at the range I had a problem with the brightness of the reticle. I dont know if it was just the light outside or what but it was kind of hard to see the reticle. It was mostly over cast today and the back drop of the range is a light sand color. Would the gg and g hood help with this or is there a problem with my sight. And before you ask yes the brightness was all the way up…thoughts?

The only reason you can’t now is because your handguard won’t let the Eotech 512 scoot as far forward as it can. With a quad rail, you can put the crossbolt on the Eotech 512 in the forward-most slot on the receiver. Check out this thread, agentile posts a picture of a rifle with a quad rail and a BUIS, mag, and Eotech 512 all on the reciever.
BLUEDOG, Thanks. Though you don’t have a BUIS to try, maybe with the 517 and magnifier mounted on there, we will be able to see if there’s a couple of picatinny ramps left over to just squeeze in a BUIS. Personally, I have doubts that the 3 will fit, but I’m not giving up hope until I know for sure. Should there also be co-witness concerns too, when trying to use a BUIS with the higher 517 (??)

I’ve had a number of options for quite some time already if I was willing to get rid of the M4 handguards. But my intent is to keep my pristine Colt 6920 in it’s original state without any modifications to it. I own other AR’s that I can do this with, but I really want to leave the Colt 6920 as is. I was hoping that when EOTech designed this new 517 that they would have engineered it to move far forward enough over the M4 handguard to fit the magnifier and BUIS too. I have a feeling it will still fall short of the required room necessary and not go quite far enough forward to fit the BUIS.
I’m concerned with the 517 being manufactured so it’s raised up 7mm, if cowitnessing through a BUIS would work properly too.
